The Black Creek Trails at Noccalulla Falls Park & Campground are a system of multi-use trails in North Alabama. They have recently been expanded to offer over twelve miles of fun, and I’m on a mission to hike each loop.
Jeep Hill Loop - Blue Blaze/Signage Marked with "JHL"
The trailhead for the system is located on the far side of the Noccalulla Falls Campground directly across from the cabins.
Enter the trail and cross the bridge over Cascade Creek. At the end of the paved portion, you will see a spot to go right. There will be a sign that says Black Creek Hiking & Mtn. Bike Trail.
Make the right going up the trail and then make a left at the first path you see. Jeep Hill will not show on the sign. Head towards Whatley/Cascade/Family Loop.
Continue on the Family Loop (green) until you come to a fork in the path, bear right and head up Jeep Hill.
Once you reach the top will be treated to lovely views of the Noccalula Park area before heading down the back side of Jeep Hill and looping around.
Head back down the same side you climbed up and then bear left at the Family Loop following the signage until you return the starting point. If you want to add on to the hike, go right at the Family Loop which will also take you back to the original start point.
This loop is 1.4 miles with 315 feet of elevation gain measured after you cross Cascade Creek bridge. Add about .5 miles each way to and from the parking lot; be sure to plan accordingly.
See you on the trails!
