Memorial Day is fast approaching. A day to remember those who have served and sacrificed. Before you hit the river or fire up the grill, please consider joining the Gadsden-Etowah Patriot's Association at the Colonel Ola Lee Mize Patriot's Park located near the entrance to Noccalula Falls Park.
This annual program is a wonderful way to honor and acknowledge those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for their country and for our freedoms. It will also give you the opportunity to visit Patriot's Park if you have not done so.
The park includes an Etowah County War Memorial, an Etowah County Veteran's Memorial, as well as many other exhibits and features. If you've never been we highly encourage you to visit.
These events make me proud to live and work in the Greater Gadsden area. If you viewed the Vietnam Veteran's Moving Wall Memorial that was just here (over 70,000 people in just 5 days!), you know what true patriots live here. The groups and volunteers that put in long hours and much effort to make that happen were simply amazing.
Let's make this year's Memorial Day program the biggest one yet! The program lasts about thirty minutes and begins at 10AM. Seating is limited so you may want to bring a chair. Snacks and water will be provided by the McLaughlin Detachment, Marine Corps League at no charge. For more information please visit The Gadsden-Etowah Patriot's Association here.
We hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day and we hope to see you at Patriot's Park. Remember, wherever you live, or wherever you are, be a tourist in your own town....and give a little prayer for those who have made that possible. God bless the USA!
