Barbarians At The Gate

Barbarians At The Gate

In just two days and fifteen hours, as of this writing anyway, Barbarians will descend upon the Greater Gadsden area. Specifically Noccalula Falls Park to fight it out on the battlefield orchestrated by the Queen Barbarian herself. Close to 1,400 of them! No need to worry though, they'll be battling against themselves in a test of endurance (6 plus miles and 20 plus obstacles), strength, and skill.

Now in its 7th year, The Barbarian Challenge (presented by yours truly - Greater Gadsden Area Tourism), draws competitors from all over the Southeast for the hardest race they'll ever freakin' love.

The Saturday morning start is staggered, with each "horde" lining up to take the Blood Oath before they run off to the first obstacle. And these obstacles are no joke, we're talking Mine Field, Grave Hopper, and Burpee Beach, just to name a few. And then there's the dreaded Weaver. What's that you might ask......well if you don't know, I'm just gonna let it be a surprise. You can thank me later.

There will be a festival area with food vendors and Barbarian swag. There's even a place that you and your tribe can set up a tent and cheer on other Barbarians. Got a Baby Barbarian? There's a Kids Course Challenge for those twelve and under.

With packet pick-up the night before, and an after party  following, both hosted by Bank Forty Beer Company, the Barbarian Challenge has morphed into an entire weekend of fun! So bring some cash (for swag....and beer at the after party), your ID (to pick up your packet), and a "can-do" attitude, and we'll meet you at the start. Are you up to The Challenge?

For more information please visit The Barbarian Challenge website. Same day registration is available.
