The Black Creek Trails at Noccalulla Falls Park & Campground are a system of multi-use trails in North Alabama. They have recently been expanded to offer over twelve miles of fun, and I’m on a mission to hike each loop.

Whatley Trail Loop - Red Blaze/Signage Marked with "WT"

The trailhead for the system is located on the far side of the Noccalulla Falls Campground directly across from the cabins.

Enter the trail and cross the bridge over Cascade Creek. At the end of the paved portion, you will see a spot to go right. There will be a sign that says Black Creek  Hiking & Mtn. Bike Trail.

Make the right going up the trail and then make a left at the first path you see. Jeep Hill will not show on the sign. Head towards Whatley/Cascade/Family Loop.

Continue on the Family Loop (green) until you come to a sign for the Whatley Trail which you'll follow. Turn right at the small creek. There are two places to cross, use the wooden bridge if there is a lot of water.

Continue following the red-blazed trail signs. Use the wooden bridges to cross the creek.

Continue on to the main gravel Black Creek Trail and head left back to the starting point. Be sure to take a couple of the short side trails for a nice look at Black Creek.

This loop is 1.4 miles with 185 feet of elevation gain measured after you cross Cascade Creek bridge. Add about .5 miles each way to and from the parking lot; be sure to plan accordingly.

See you on the trails!
